The British Forces broadcaster is looking for a talented and multi skilled presenter to join our brilliant team. If you’re excited about the prospect of putting audiences at the front and centre of everything you do, to make a positive difference to their morale, then this is a game-changer of a career opportunity for you.
Every day, we want you to create fun, entertaining and relevant content within our 70% music, 30% speech format. The audience is a community of interest (the UK armed services and their families) with a core demographic of 18 to 35 with a slight male skew.
To be successful in this role you will currently be presenting a regular live show on a BBC, commercial or community station (or recently have done so) and be used to self op and self-produced approaches to programmes and content. Your ability to research, record and edit interviews and speech content will need to become first rate, and we can help you with training if needed. We’ll also help you learn to voice-track programmes, if you don’t yet have that skill.
As a team player, you will be full of ideas and happy to share them, developing your own shows, as well as contributing to others’. The ability to incorporate social media initiatives into your creative ideas will already be second nature and our experts will support you in developing techniques to identify the best stories for our audiences.
You will be able to demonstrate that you are resourceful, innovative, flexible and reliable, with bags of personality and enthusiasm both on and off air. Your excitement at the prospect of a full-on role, living and working alongside the UK Armed Forces, at home and overseas will be obvious
After a short familiarisation period at our HQ near Gerrard’s Cross in Buckinghamshire, you’ll be prepared for long term overseas postings to places like Canada, the Falkland Islands, Germany, Gibraltar and Cyprus. So, a willingness to live in a military community and a sense of adventure are both essential. Talk to us about the opportunity for your spouse, partner and family to go with you, if that works best for your circumstances.
We ask a lot of our broadcasters; in return, we’ll give you the chance to develop your talent in a creative, non-commercial, ideas-led environment, with plenty of support to develop your talents to their fullest potential and to share your skills and experience with us. We have a generous leave scheme, a 6% employer contribution to a fully portable pension plan, subsidised accommodation when working overseas and a range of salary and other benefits we’d be happy to chat to you more about.
For the right candidate – this is a life-changing opportunity to make exceptional radio for an extraordinary audience.
