Forces News is looking for a news reporter to work across our digital, TV and radio platforms. Working across a wide range of stories you will deliver multi-platform content that makes news relevant to those serving in the forces and interesting to others across an audience that numbers in the millions.
The ability to take the key defence angles of a wider news story or dive deep into a military story and emerge with the telling details are at the heart of the role, as is an understanding of how a digital audience consumes content.
You’ll be a strong and self-motivated journalist with the ability to manage your workload effectively under pressure and to a demanding schedule.
Bursting with story ideas and treatments, you will have a journalism qualification or significant experience, and good technical skills with experience of editing video to deadlines and an understanding that in a digital first world video content has to engage from the first frame.
We are looking for cross-platform reporters with broadcast news / digital experience, who are as happy producing an instagram story as they are making a piece for TV news.
A journalism qualification is essential, knowledge of the military would be an advantage. This position will be based on a mobile contract meaning UK and foreign travel are likely, while evening and weekend working are possible. Flexibility and a full driving licence are required. There may be a future opportunity and requirement to work overseas. Training will be provided for the use of our specific equipment.
